Welcome to my website. This site includes some of my personal favorite images taken from sites around the country but mainly from North Wales and around the Midlands. I have been taking photographs for nearly forty years, firstly with a Practika Nova, then a Practika LTL5 before moving onto an Olympus OM2n system. The majority of my photos from the first 15 years were macro or nature shots. I moved into digital in the early 2000's when I and several hundred others won a competition with Practical Photographer whereby Canon took over the Cosford Aerospace Museum for the day and supplied equipment for you to try with your recorded images being later supplied on CD. I tried a Canon 20D with a 20mm lens. A nice introduction to digital. I later went out and brought a Fuji 602 bridge camera which I loved. After a few years this was sold on and I purchased Nikon D70 with 18-70mm lens in 2005. Since then I have acquired a Nikon D80 and a Nikon D7000 plus various lenses and flash guns, bags, tripod etc. One day I will stop. I also have a Canon G12 which spends most of its time taking infrared shots. This has not been converted but instead features a telescopic lens adapter that is spring loaded and zooms in and out with the camera lens. The adapter and cheap 720nm filter cost the princely sum of ?POUND]21 from various e-bay sites, new needless to say. I started taking photos for pleasure again around June 2010 when I joined the Stourbridge Photographic Society or SPS not to be confused with some other club which also uses the initials SPS. They were first but we are better. I can honestly say that SPS have given me a friendly welcome and go out of their way to encourage and help new members, so if you are in the area and want to join a club contact us via the club website http://stourbridgeps.co.uk. There are some good people there who have helped me and are still helping me through a very nasty patch in my life. I won't name names but you should know who you are and thank you for all the support and the chats. I am not going to talk you to death about things such as "the transience of beauty" or "the majesty of the light" or other such clap trap. If you are like me you take a picture because something there appeals to you at the time or else you feel there is some potential in what you see. This website and the images you see here are an insight into me and what I like. Please bear in mind that the website and its contents are, like me "a work in progress", and one day it may develop into something I can be proud of. My Albums
